I sell my birds into loving homes only - I won't sell to re-sellers or third parties. If you are buying a bird as a gift please consider bringing the person that will care for the bird when you pick out your baby :)
I do NOT sell un-weaned babies - no exceptions!
Birds don't make the best pets for children under 5 years of age. I have two small children myself and speak from personal experience :)
Baby cockatiels: $125 for tame, handfed pet babies or two babies for $225 (to the same home of course) - a surcharge will apply for rare mutations
Adult pairs ( older than 3 or 4) : starting at $125 and varies greatly
Adult single birds ( might not be handtame anymore or need work) $50 and up
Rescue birds ( I will try to adopt them out with an appropriate sized cage) start at $25 but depend greatly on age, tameness and circumstances
I offer DNA tests through avian biotech - a feather analysis costs about $25 and will offer a 98.9% certainty regarding gender. This fee is for one test - please be aware that you might have to test several birds to find a baby with the desired gender.
I only guarantee gender with birds that have been DNA tested- I can make a guess but won't give any guarantees with birds that have not been tested! Sometimes I can tell by color due to sex linked genetics or by behaviour but that is not always the case...
If you are on my waiting list I will notify you when I have babies available and they are about 6-8 weeks old. At this time you can come by and pick out your baby from the ones I have available. Please make sure you give me a good e-mail address and phone number to reach you. I will accept a non refundable $25 deposit once you know for sure which baby you like to adopt and only after you have met the babies in person. This deposit will hold the bird for you until he or she is weaned and eating on it's own for at least one week. I will call or e-mail when the babies are ready to get picked up and I usually give everyone 1-2 weeks to make arrangements for pickup.
I will hold an adult weaned bird for up to one week ( 7 days) after I receive a deposit and un-weaned babies until they have been eating on their own for at least one week to 10 days.
Deposits are non refundable and are applied towards the total price of the bird at purchase.
Please try to keep your appointements if at all possible - I usually have waiting lists for all my babies and call people according to their place in line. I might schedule multible appointements in one week but never more than one per day - if you can't make your appointement time I will do my best to accomodate you on a different day/time but you might be moved to a lower place in line if I have already scheduled other adopters . Unfortunately I will not re-schedule everyone because one person can't make their appointement - this is out of respect to all the families that have been waiting for weeks or months to meet their new family member!
Should you be on my waiting list but not interested in adopting anymore please let me know - it keeps waiting times for everyone to a minimum :)
I only accept cash at this time!
I give discounts if your buy more than one bird- cockatiels are happiest in pairs or groups - if you buy one bird from me the second one is sold at a discount! I am doing this to encourage people to get two cockatiels instead of a single bird. I do not give discounts if you intend to give your second bird to a friend! Cockatiels are happiest in pairs or groups.
I give priority to people adopting two brids from me OR a second bird for their single companion bird
I will ship birds but only if 2 or more birds are purchased at the same time. Birds are shipped via air fright ( plane) and the cost for shipping is around $150 depending on the airline plus a seperate handling/ airport/crate charge per shipment out of colorado springs. For shippements over $500 total value I can ship Continental which is around $100 plus crate fee out of Denver Colorado- It is an almost 4 hour round trip for me to get the birds to Denver Cargo ... I can not ship birds in hot or extremely cold weather and I require a phone interview and references to make sure they are going to a loving home :)
Shipping psittacine birds by USPS is illegal and not an option for me
